Founded in 1968, The Cybernetics Society is the UK national learned society and professional body promoting pure and applied cybernetics.

It holds scientific meetings, conferences, and social events, and engages in other activities to encourage public understanding of science and to extend and disseminate knowledge of cybernetics and its associated disciplines.

The Society aims to enhance the efficiency and usefulness of its members by supporting their Continuing Professional Development and setting up a high standard of professional education and knowledge.

It's website has been identified by the Institute for Scientific Information® as a resource for researchers, scientists, and scholars.

The Cybernetics Society is one of the constituent societies and institutions of the World Organisation of Systems and Cybernetics (WOSC), and has members on the editorial team of Kybernetes - The International Journal of Systems & Cybernetics - the leading peer-reviewed journal of contemporary cybernetic and systemic researches that is the official journal of WOSC.

Membership grades of The Cybernetics Society that may be awarded include Fellow (FCybS), Member (MCybS), and Associate. Students on courses approved by the Council can join as Associates at a reduced annual subscription.
